Skin Tightening

Skincare products to encourage collagen

Signature Face Lift vs Wrinkle Lift

Other favorites of mine are the Signature Face Lift or the Wrinkle Lift made by Image Skincare. These both have ingredients to breakdown the desmosomes that hold your dead skin together. Signature Face Lift is packed full of enzymes and Vitamin C which is very high in antioxidants. The Wrinkle Lift is a little more aggressive. You’ll definitely feel a strong tingle while it is being applied. This treatment does exactly what it’s called; addresses wrinkles, smooths out and lifts. It breaks down the glue holding the cells together and encourages cellular reproduction.

Cosmetic surgical procedures are so popular right now. However, I’m finding more and more people want alternative methods rather than going under the knife. Different types of Radiofrequency, Galvanic, and Micro-current are all great ways to tighten the skin. This equipment feels a little stimulating and tingles but there shouldn’t be uncomfortable. This reaches lower levels in the skin and encourages fibroblasts to produce collagen. One reason I like Galvanic is because the negative polarity forces product into the skin. This is great to introduce disincrustation for people that have impacted pores or blackheads. Positive polarity is used to close the follicle. Therefore by doing negative polarity with a professional product to increase skin tightening then positive polarity to tighten, you seal in all of the wonderful ingredients from the product; as well as stimulating the skin resulting in anti-aging.

As Microdermabrasion is a wonderful treatment I don’t recommend it for someone with thin skin. It just doesn’t produce the positive results you’re looking for to tighten the skin. Microderm is great for thicker skin, large pores, acne scars, and overall resurfacing. Even though it does encourage cellular reproduction the main objective is removing the top layers of dead skin which is not good for skin that isn’t thick and in need of manual resurfacing. So many people want to tighten their skin. Whether you want to get rid of those fine lines and wrinkles or tighten loose skin there are so many treatments available. Over the past 16 years of practice I’ve come across numerous people wanting to resurface the lines away; Microdermabrasion, chemical peels, enzymes, and Dermafile are just a few ways to achieve this. However, what about someone with very thin skin? The thinner the skin the less resurfacing you need. At this point you should encourage cellular reproduction as well as increase collagen and elastin. It’s important to maintain a healthy skin care regimen at home in addition to professional treatments.

At home ideas for tightening the skin

My absolute favorite treatment is the Dermapen (Micro-needling). This creates small channels in the skin to introduce product and then force collagen and cellular reproduction. For more detailed information click here to read my article on Dermapen.

Products are also very important to use daily at home. Vitamin C and Plant Stem Cells are two that I find work the best. Keep in mind Vitamin C is very unstable. I don’t ever recommend purchasing a Vitamin C that is not from a professional company. When its manufactured it needs to go through cold water process or it kills the Vitamin C and won’t have any positive effect on the skin. The Max line from Image Skincare is a little more expensive but will work to reproduce healthy cells and encourage collagen production. With all of the new technology out there ultimately you need to consult with a professional that is knowledgeable and experienced. I hope these will help give you a better understanding and prompts questions to ask when you meet with a professional. Call for more information, 407-592-9422.

To be sure you’re optimizing your results from any of these professional treatments there are several things you can do at home. Drinking green tea on a daily basis is a great. It has blood purifying properties that support the production of collagen and contains tons of antioxidants. This is a more natural way to tighten the skin. Staying hydrated is also extremely important. Try to get the recommended 8, full eight ounces, of water daily. Keep in mind when drinking coffee or alcohol you will need to drink more water to combat the dehydration from those beverages.
